Light Ideas
Aim: To find out what students already know and understand about light.
Turn on the light. ... what can you see? How do we know the light is on? What happens when you try to hold/touch the light? How could you change the light? What do you notice about the light inside and the light outside?
Introduce the 'My Thoughts' sheet. Discuss each question. This is an anonymous activity - do not write your name anywhere on the paper.
Write your responses to questions, cut up your sheet into strips and place your answers into the corresponding paper bag.
Break into five (5) groups. You will be allocated one question/paper bag to each group.
In groups, sort through and read responses in the paper bag. Discuss different ideas and responses from the class.
On a piece of A4 paper, each group summarise the information gained from the class responses. Photograph your group's responses using my iPad.
Contribute to the Word Wall, located on the last page of our Weebly, providing a list of 'Key Terms' from your discussions.
